The BSACC is a non-political
charitable organisation (Charity number: 265456), run by an Executive committee of 15 members,
including the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, all of whom are
volunteers and live in the Broadgreen Area.
All residents within the constitutional
area have equal
rights to be nominated and serve on the committee, without
discrimination.
Elections take place on a yearly basis at the AGM, which is advertised in
the Swindon Advertiser, shops and resident’s windows.
We raise awareness among the
Broadgreen community on the issues affecting people’s lives. This is done
through the monthly meetings, meetings organised on specific subjects, for example, fly tipping and rubbish problems, newsletters and online information as well
as talking to people on the street.
By
working to our constitutional objectives, the general environment of the Broadgreen Area is
constantly being improved, making it a safer and cleaner place for all who live
here and through our work with various groups and agencies, we are improving
community cohesion.
The BSACC has a constitutional area that covers over
2000 homes, in what is the most culturally diverse area of Swindon. It is our
aim to increase the number of residents that attend our monthly meetings and
encourage a greater involvement in the community by further promoting our work,
continuing to champion the area and lead on important issues. As residents of
the Broadgreen Area, the members of the BSACC are in a prime position to know
what the specific problems are, as and when they occur, because we are there on the
ground every day of the year.
Our monthly meetings are held on the first
Wednesday of every month, at the Broadgreen Centre in Salisbury Street,
7.30 - 9.30pm. All Broadgreen residents are more than welcome to attend
and join in.
